George Fox University
George Fox University (GFU) is a private, Christian university founded in 1891 by Quaker pioneers. A university of the humanities, sciences and professional studies, GFU aims to provide its students with a Christian education through which it can “empower students spiritually, academically and professionally” to take on a new view of the world.
The university offers bachelor’s degrees, master’s degrees, and doctoral degrees, as well as seminary degrees and adult degree programs. For its undergraduate students, GFU offers over 30 majors and 45 minors to complete their basic liberal arts core education at the university’s main campus in Newberg. For its graduate students, Master’s and Doctoral degrees are available in business, counseling, education, leadership and psychology and these courses are available at Newberg as well as in the other campuses at Portland, Salem, Boise and Redmond. For its Adult Degree programs, the university offers degrees in five majors which adult students can take up in Portland, Salem and Boise as well as online via the Internet. Being a Christian university, GFU also offers seminary degrees.
For academic year 2009-2010, cost of tuition and fees plus room and board at GFU is US$34,500 for full-time undergraduate students; US$ 425 per semester hour for students under the degree completion program. Cost of tuition for courses under the university’s graduate programs vary depending on the chosen field of study. Financial Aid is available for students who wish to avail of it.
On-campus housing is available at GFU’s main campus in Newberg but not in its satellite campuses at Portland, Salem, Boise and Redmond.
