Linfield College
Linfield College is an independent, comprehensive undergraduate college with its main campus in McMinnville, Oregon. One of the oldest colleges on the west coast, Linfield was founded in 1858 and holds strong ties with the American Baptist Church.
Nationally recognized for its highly qualified teaching faculty and excellent academic programs, Linfield offers a broad liberal arts core curriculum that fosters the total development of every student through a comprehensive program of general education that covers the arts and humanities, natural sciences, and social and behavioral sciences.
Apart from its main residential campus in McMinnville, Linfield also maintains a campus in Portland offering majors in Nursing and Health Sciences and an adult degree program offering courses online and at eight various sites within Oregon.
There are currently around 1,700 students enrolled in the McMinnville campus of Linfield. With a student to faculty ratio of 13 to 1 and the average class size no bigger than 18 students, the college is able to grant students the high-quality of education of a big university in the focused atmosphere and tightly-knit environment of a small college.
Cost of attendance for academic year 2009-2010 is estimated at US$39,814 per year for fulltime undergraduate students. This cost includes tuition, room and board, the typical fees plus health insurance, personal expenses, and books and supplies. To help students pay for their cost of attendance, financial aid is extended in the form of loans, grants and scholarships to qualified students.
The college requires all students to live on campus for at least three years. Only students who are married, over 21 years old, have senior status, or who are living with family are exempted.
