Allegheny College

Allegheny College is one of the most reputable colleges in the United States and is in fact included in Loren Pope’s book “Colleges That Change Lives”. It is also known for its Senior Projects, First year and Sophomore Year Seminars, and the closeness of its student-faculty interaction (top 10% in the US in this regard). The college is located Meadville, Pennsylvania, a metropolitan area where academic and social advantages are all within easy reach.

Allegheny College offers Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees, a Teacher Certification, Accelerated Masters Program in Management. Dual-degree programs in the following areas are also offered:

There are currently 2,100 students representing 37 states and 32 countries under the close supervision of 137 full-time faculty of which 93% have PhDs or other terminal degrees. Average class size is 22 for introductory classes and 15 for upper-classes. The student to faculty ratio is 13 to 1.

Allegheny College is a selective institution with 75% of their incoming students coming from the top 25% of their high schools. Their admission criteria focus on the following (in order of importance):

On-campus housing is available with about 77% of students living in residence halls, fraternity houses, College Court, North Village and College-owned houses. Only fourth year students are allowed to live off-campus.
