Bryn Athyn College is a coeducational, Christian, liberal arts college founded in 1877. Located in Bryn Athyn, Pennsylvania, it is just 20 miles northeast of Center City, Philadelphia. It was one of the many higher learning institutions that were originally established for the purpose of training ministers. It was then known as the Academy of the New Church. The New Church is a religious body also known as the General Church of the New Jerusalem which promotes public worship based on the teachings of Emanuel Swedenborg. The academy became a four-year college in 1914 and adapted its present name in 1997.
