Bucknell University
Starting out as the Lewisburg High School in 1846, Bucknell University was a product of the collective dreams of a group of Baptists who wanted to establish a literary institution in the area of Central Pennsylvania. The original high school became the academical and primary department of the University at Lewisburg in 1848. Its present name came about when one of the charter members of the board of trustees by the name of William Bucknell made a generous donation to save the university from financial ruin. Bucknell University is located at 701 Moore Avenue, Lewisburg, Pennsylvania.
The present student body is comprised of 3,500 undergraduate students and 150 graduate students coming from 46 states and 58 countries. Bucknell University retains 330 full-time faculty members and has a student/faculty ratio of 11:1. Almost 97% of faculty holds PhD or equivalent degree.
The university occupies a 450-acre campus housing more than 100 facilities including an art gallery, a performing arts center and a state-of-the-art fitness center. At least 89% of undergraduates have taken advantage of on-campus residency. All student housing facilities are connected to high-speed Internet while the whole campus is substantially networked.
Estimated annual educational cost is $ 50,320.00 including tuition, student fees and standard room and board. Bucknell’s academic offering consists of more than 50 major and 60 minor fields of study. It has recently taken on a bold strategic plan to reflect its aspirations as a higher learning institution. It aims to concurrently strengthen its academic core, deepen the residential learning experience, enhance diversity and build bridges while securing its financial future. This is in keeping with the university’s primary educational goal of transforming students through sustained academic study and enriched co-curricular experience.
