Carnegie Mellon University
Carnegie Mellon University is located in Pittsburgh, PA. It is a relatively new university that was formed in 1967 when the Carnegie Institute of Technology and the Mellon Institute of Industrial Research merged to form one school. The campus takes up 140 acres and is three miles from Pittsburgh’s downtown core.
Carnegie Mellon has approximately 5,900 undergraduate students and 5,000 graduate students in attendance. They are taught by 1,000 faculty members, and the student-to-teacher ratio is 10:1. The University is known for its programs in Business Administration, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems, and Mechanical Engineering.

Admission Requirements
Carnegie Mellon offers an Early Decision track for those students who already know that the school is their first choice. If you want to apply on that basis, you need to have your application submitted by November 1. Admissions decisions are released on December 15. The Regular Acceptance track allows prospective students to apply by January 1 and receive an answer by mid-April.
Along with looking at your grades, the Admissions staff at Carnegie Mellon also consider the kinds of courses you chose in high school. You will also be asked to submit your high school transcript and your SAT Reasoning Test or your ACT with Writing Test to be considered. Carnegie Mellon recommends that applicants schedule an interview, but this is not required.
Tuition & Financial Aid
Attending Carnegie Mellon University will cost you $39,150 per academic year if you are planning to study there on a full-time basis. Room and board will set you back an additional $10,050, and all students are required to pay $414 in fees.
Sports at Carnegie Mellon
The Carnegie Mellon Tartans compete in the NCAA Division III. The University participates in these sports at the intercollegiate level:

Students at the University also participate in a number of sports at the intramural and club levels. Clubs have been formed for cycling, softball, skiing, ultimate Frisbee, and more. Fitness classes are also available.
Online Programs
Not all students attending Carnegie Mellon do so by attending classes on campus. You can work on the requirements for your Master of Science in Information Technology by enrolling in Heinz College’s distance program.
