Central Pennsylvania College

Central Pennsylvania College (Central Penn) is a four-year college known for its intensive bachelors degree program which comes with a 180-hour internship and which can be completed in the classroom or online in only three years.

Located in Summerdale, Pennsylvania, Central Penn commenced operation in its 35-acre campus in 1881.

Central Penn confers a baccalaureate degree in Criminal Justice (Corporate Security, Financial Crimes, Governmental Law Enforcement, Legal Studies), Information Technology (Applications Development, Cyber Security, Database Management, Multimedia & Internet Production, Networking, Office Technology), and Business Administration (Marketing, Finance, Management, Healthcare Administration, and E-Business).

Its associate degree majors include Criminal Justice, Paralegal, Medical Assistant, Medical Secretarial, Optometric Technician, Physical Therapist Assistant, Child Care Management, Multimedia & Internet Production, Business Administration (Accounting, Accounting Information Systems, Finance, Hotel & Restaurant Management, Marketing, Office Administration, Office Technology, Communication, Retail Management, Small Business & Entrepreneurship, Travel & Tourism), and Computer Information Systems (Database, Programming or Networking Concentrations).

Information Technology Certification programs conducted in the evening on a continuing education basis includes CISCO Networking, Oracle Database, Microsoft Certified Network Engineer, and Microsoft Certified Network Developer.

Average class size is around 15 students, allowing for close mentoring relationships between faculty and students. In addition, students are not housed in dormitories but in spacious apartments or town homes to give them the opportunity to experience a real working environment. Complementing this is the conduct of classes which are held from 7:30 in the morning until 5:30 in the afternoon just as in the corporate world.

Tuition costs per term for 2009 – 2010 is $365 per credit; student/technology fee (5 or more credits) – $235; and housing and board per term townhouse (single occupancy/double occupancy) – $1825/$1500.

Central Penn is accredited by the Commission on Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Program, Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education of the American Physical Therapy Association and by the American Bar Association.
