East Stroudsburg State University
East Stroudsburg State University was established in 1893 as a Normal School tasked to prepare teachers. Before it got its present name, it became known as the East Stroudsburg State Teachers College in 1927 and the East Stroudsburg State College in 1960 due to the addition of science and liberal arts curriculum. This institution which achieved university status in 1983 is located at 200 Prospect Street, East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania.
The university occupies a 213-acre campus which houses 61 buildings including academic, recreation and sports facilities, residence halls and a 1,000-seat dining hall. The Stroud Hall is the primary academic building in the campus while the other notable campus facilities include the Beers Lecture Hall, the Fine and Performing Arts Center and the Koehler Fieldhouse, among many. The University Computing Center provides its services to faculty, students and staff.
There are over 60 undergraduate and 20 graduate programs offered by East Stroudsburg State University. It also offers more than 20 post-baccalaureate certification programs in education. It likewise offers distance learning programs.
Faculty members total 280, 74% of whom hold terminal degrees in their respective fields. Through the combination of real-world experience and innovative teaching with state-of-the-art equipments, the students’ learning experiences are greatly enhanced. All students are encouraged to engage in internship, community service projects and field studies to facilitate a hands-on feel of their chosen careers.
Three kinds of costs comprise the expenses of attending the university: education, residential and incidentals. A full-time Pennsylvania resident is charged $ 13,812.00 per year while a non-resident counterpart is charged $ 22,248.00 per year for undergraduate programs. Graduate programs costs $ 9,312.00 and $ 13,416.00 per year for resident and non-resident students respectively.
