Gettysburg College

Gettysburg College is a private four-year liberal arts college founded in 1832 as the sister institution of the Lutheran Theological Seminary. Located near the battlefield in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, the college is focused on providing undergraduate education to its students.

The core of the college’s curriculum is a comprehensive and expansive liberal arts education which equips students with the open frame of mind that serves them well in the kind of work they will need to do when they pursue their major. The college provides enrollees with the dual benefit of a small, close-knit college atmosphere with the advanced educational technology of a modern university. It grants a Bachelor of Arts degree in over 41 various choices of majors and minors. Some students even take up a double major or a major and a minor.

Currently, there are around 2,600 students enrolled at Gettysburg College being mentored by 180 full-time faculty members. The student to faculty ratio is 10.7 to 1 and the average size per class is 18 thereby guaranteeing personalized instruction.

For academic year 2009-2010, the cost of attendance is US$38,690 for tuition and fees, US$5,020 for room rental, and US$4,340 for a total package cost of US$48,050. Merit scholarships and grants for those who apply and pass the requirements for Financial Aid are available.

As a residential college, Gettysburg offers on-campus housing facilities in one of six residence halls. Each of the rooms or suites located in these residence halls is fully equipped with all the amenities to insure that students are provided with a place to stay and study that is conducive to learning.
