Grove City College

Grove City College is a private, liberal arts college founded in 1876 and located in Grove City, Pennsylvania. Although loosely affiliated with the Presbyterian Church, the college maintains a non-sectarian outlook and accepts students because they are qualified and not for their race or religion.

With a mission to provide the highest quality liberal and professional education to its students, Grove aims to produce graduates with a strong spiritual and moral character.

Currently there are around 2,500 undergraduate students enrolled at regular day classes at the university. The college’s curriculum is basically composed of general subjects within its comprehensive liberal arts core program with emphasis on humanities, social sciences, laboratory sciences, qualitative and logical reasoning and foreign language. These are followed by the choice of a specific major and minor course to serve as the student’s area of specialization. Although there are a wide variety of courses to choose from for major, the most popular choices are business, biology/pre-med, engineering and education.

Cost of attendance at Grove City College for academic year 2009-2010 is US$19,414. This includes tuition, room and board and a notebook computer that the students can keep when they graduate. Additional costs may include US$1,000 for books, US$500 for travel and US$350 for miscellaneous expenses. As a form of assistance to students in paying for their attendance costs, financial aid is extended in the form of grants, loans and scholarships.

The average size of a class is no more than 25 students with a faculty to student ratio of 15 to 1. This assures that all the students are given the time they need by their teachers.
