Kutztown University of Pennsylvania
Kutztown University of Pennsylvania, more commonly called Kutztown University, is a public university located in Kutztown, Berks County, Pennsylvania. It was founded in 1866 as the Keystone State Normal School tasked to prepare young people for a teaching profession. It was only in 1983 when the school achieved university status that it acquired the name Kutztown University.
Today, Kutztown is a modern institution with approximately 10,700 undergraduate and graduate students enrolled. These students are under the guidance of fulltime faculty members, 84% of whom hold a doctorate or the highest degree possible in their chosen field. With a student to faculty ratio of 20 to 1, students of Kutztown are assured that their professors will be available to them should they have any need for assistance or guidance in anything related to their studies.
The university offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs in a variety of majors through its four distinguished colleges: College of Business, College of Education, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and College of Visual and Performing Arts.
Cost of attending Kutztown for academic year 2009-2010 is US$23,018 for fulltime, out-of-state undergraduate students. This cost includes full-year tuition of US$13,886, mandatory fees of US$1,948, and room and board US$7,184. For in-state students, the total cost of attendance is US$14,582 broken down into tuition of US$5,554, mandatory fees of US$1,844 and room and board also at US$7,184. To help students pay for their cost of attendance, the college is extending financial aid in the form of loans, grants and scholarships to qualified students.
