Lehigh University is a private school located in Bethlehem, PA, which is 50 miles south of Philadelphia and 75 miles east of New York. The campus is spread out over 1,600 acres. It was established in 1865 as a technical school, and over the years it has grown into an institution that is well known for its Accounting, Finance, Marketing, Mechanical Engineering, Marketing, and Psychology programs.

More than two-thirds of Lehigh’s students live on campus. There are 4,600 undergraduate students and 2,000 graduate students in attendance. Six hundred professors are employed by the University. Prospective students at Lehigh will be impressed by the fact the school placed #14 on Business Week’s list of Which College Grads Earn the Most (2008). The University was ranked #1 for its Accounting program and 21st for overall academic quality.

Class sizes are kept small at Lehigh. Almost three-quarters of them (73 percent) have 33 students or less. Almost all the 629 faculty members at Lehigh have a doctorate or the highest degree in their field of expertise. The student-to-faculty ratio is 9:1. Undergrads can earn either a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science degree.

Degree Programs at Lehigh University

Four colleges make up the University: the College of Arts and Sciences, College of Business and Economics, the P.C. Rossin College of Engineering and Applied Science and the College of Education (graduate level courses only). Undergrads can choose from over 90 programs and majors, including:

Admission Requirements at Lehigh University

To get the attention of the Lehigh University’s Admissions Department, you will need to score over 500 on your SAT in Reading and 500 on the Math component of the test. Two teacher recommendations are also required.

If you want to be considered under Lehigh’s Early Admission policy, you will need to submit your application by November 15. Decisions are made by December 12 in this case. The deadline for regular admission candidates is January 1 and decisions are released on April 1 for these prospective students.

Lehigh Tuition & Financial Aid

If you decide to go to Lehigh, tuition will cost $37,250 for full-time undergrads. Room and board will add another $9,770 to your bill. You will also need to pay $300 for student fees (mandatory). Books and supplies will cost $2,220, and students pursuing an engineering or science degree will need to pay $430 as a lab fee.

Sports at Lehigh

Lehigh University athletes on varsity teams compete in the NCAA Division I. Athletes participate in baseball, basketball, cross country, lacrosse, soccer, softball, tennis, volleyball, and more. Intramural sports are also available, and participants can enjoy playing basketball, dodgeball, flag football, soccer, softball, and volleyball.
