Mansfield University of Pennsylvania has gone through five name changes, each reflecting the move towards its present stature as a comprehensive public university. It was established as the Mansfield Classical Seminary in 1857, became the Mansfield State Normal School in 1862, the Mansfield State Teachers College in 1927, the Mansfield State College in 1960 and finally the Mansfield University in 1983. It is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.
Programs provided by Mansfield University of Pennsylvania include undergraduate and graduate studies. The Art and Sciences Department offer tracks in Academic and Human Development, Art, Biology, Chemistry and Physics, Communication and Theatre, English, Modern Languages, Geography and Geology, History and Political Science, Music, Philosophy and Psychology. The Education, Professional and Graduate Studies Departments offer tracks on Business and Economics, Criminal Justice, Education and Special Education, Health Science, Mathematics, Computer Information Science, School Library and Information Technologies and Social Work, Anthropology and Sociology.
Mansfield University of Pennsylvania was the first to launch an online graduate program in the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education. The university’s Center for Lifelong Learning also offers non-credit classes, off-campus courses, workforce and economic development programs, law enforcement and certification programs, GED and Adult Basic Education, and Youth Camp Programs. Online courses cost $ 357.00 per credit for resident students or $ 536.00 per credit for non-residents.
Annual education cost amounts to $ 15,970.00 for Pennsylvania residents and $ 24,302.00 for out-of-state students. Those categorized as Good Neighbor Students pay an annual cost of $ 19,582.00.
