Peirce College

Peirce College is a private, four-year educational institution located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Founded in 1865 as the Union Business College by Thomas May Peirce, the school provides cutting edge education mainly to adult learners. The authority to grant Bachelor of Science degrees was given to the college in 1997 during which time its name was also changed to Peirce College. Online classes were made available in 2000 to students who, for some reason or another, could not attend the regular day classes. Peirce College’s main campus is, in fact, the venue for evening and weekend programs as well.

The college offers undergraduate degrees in Business Administration, Information Technology and Paralegal Studies.

Since most of the courses offered at Peirce College carry three credits and each credit costs US$460 and for every three-credit course there is a technology fee of US$105, then the total cost per three-credit course is US$1,485. However, in order to avail of financial aid, students must pay costs based on an estimated total cost of attendance. For academic year 2009-2010, this includes tuition at US$460 per credit hour, fees of US$105 per course, estimated cost of book and supplies at US$100 per course and room and board of an average cost of US$5,000 over 12 months. In addition, there is applicable transportation cost of US$1,500 over 12 months. For selected Information Technology courses, there may be an additional program cost of US$2,000.

Financial aid in the form of loans, grants, scholarships and work study is being extended by the college to help students pay for their cost of attendance.

On-campus housing is not available at Peirce College but is considered in the estimated cost of attendance for the purpose of computing financial aid.
