Furman University is a private liberal arts university located in Greenville, South Carolina. Founded in 1826, it is recognized as one of the leading liberal arts universities in the United States today for its academic excellence and high-quality yield of graduates.

The university’s mission is to provide its students with a comprehensive and distinctive undergraduate education that would integrate all the important aspects of the humanities, fine arts, social sciences, mathematics and the natural sciences with professional disciplines.

To achieve this, it offers degrees in 42 distinctive fields of study. With faculty members that hold the highest degrees in their chosen field guiding them, it is of little wonder that students are given the highest quality academic advice to help them choose their major course of study.

At present, there are 2,601 full-time undergraduate and 417 graduate students enrolled at Furman University assisted in their quest for higher education by 294 full-time members of the faculty, 97% of whom hold the highest degree possible in their chosen field. With a student to faculty ratio of 11 to 1 and the average size of a class not exceeding 18 students, enrollees at the university are assured of an individualized approach to learning and immediate attention from their mentors.

Cost of tuition and other fees for academic year 2009-2010 is US$36,296. This cost includes tuition, all attendant fees plus room and board. As a form of assistance, financial aid by way of scholarships, grants and loans are extended to students who may find the cost of admission too steep.
