Limestone College

Limestone College is a private, four-year liberal arts college located in Gaffney, South Carolina. Founded in 1845 by two distinguished English scholars, Dr. Thomas Curtis and his son Dr William Curtis, the school became one of the first women’s colleges in the United States and the first one in South Carolina. With the aim to provide education to anyone in need of it, Limestone College opened its doors to male students and became fully coeducational in the 1960s. Today, the college is recognized as the third oldest college in South Carolina.

Currently Limestone has a total enrollment of more than 3,500 made up of its 700 traditional day students and 2,800 Extended Campus students. A non-denominational Christian college, Limestone offers various degree programs that lead to a Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Social Work, Associate of Arts, and Associate of Science degree.

Students are guided in their quest for higher education by fulltime faculty members, 75% of the whom hold the highest degree possible in their chosen field. The student to faculty ratio is 12 to 1 and this assures students of a focused one-on-one relationship with their teachers.

Cost of attendance for academic year 2009-2010 for traditional day students is US$29,002 and US$31,092 for those living off campus. These costs are made up of full-year tuition, travel and meals, books and supplies, living expenses, and, for resident students, room and board and personal expenses. Those enrolled part-time in the day classes pay tuition cost of US762 per semester hour. To help students pay for their tuition cost, financial aid is extended by way of loans, grants and scholarships for qualified students.
