Martin Methodist College
Martin Methodist College (MMC) is a four-year liberal arts college affiliated with the Tennessee Conference of the United Methodist Church. It was named after Thomas Martin, a son of a Methodist minister who provided the original endowing gift that made the establishment of the original school possible. From the original Martin Female School in 1870, it changed its name to Martin College in 1908 and became coeducational in 1938. The word “Methodist” was added in 1986 in affirmation of its strong ties with the church.
The college is presently located at 433 West Madison Street, Pulaski, Tennessee, a location which is convenient from both Nashville and Huntsville, Alabama. It has occupied its present campus since 1875. Martin Methodist College is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award associate and baccalaureate degrees. It has been serving the residents of Giles County since its founding.
Through the college’s Business, Education, Humanities, Mathematics and Sciences, and Social Science Academic Divisions, Martin Methodist College offers more than 28 professional programs. MMC presently offers Majors and Minors in General Core Classes, Accounting, Behavioral Science, Biology, Business, Christian Education, Church Vocations, Criminal Justice, Elementary Education, Physical Education, Secondary Education, English, History, MIS, Nursing and Sport Management. A full evening program leading to Associate or Bachelor’s degree is likewise offered to working adults.
