Maryville College

Maryville College is a four-year, coeducational, liberal arts college founded in 1819. It is affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (USA) and is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. It is located at 502 E. Lamar, Alexander Pkwy, Maryville, Tennessee and occupies a 320-acre property of which 118 acres are dedicated to the College Woods.

There are about 1,100 students from 17states and 15 countries comprising the college’s present student body. Full-time faculty members are especially prepared to handle student needs as 91% of them hold doctoral degrees or corresponding terminal degrees. The average class size is 17 while student/faculty ratio is 12:1.

Programs offered by Maryville College lead to degrees in Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of Science as well as certifications in Elementary and Secondary Education. Dual degree programs are likewise offered in Healthcare/Nursing and Engineering. With the traditional liberal arts programs of study forming the educational core, more than 60 diverse fields of study are presented to students. A distinctive program for the “undecided” as to majors is also given. The Academic Divisions of the college include Behavioral Sciences, Education, Fine Arts, Humanities, Languages and Literature, Natural Sciences, and Social Sciences. The Admissions Office is open from 8 am to 8 pm, Mondays thru Thursdays and from 8 am to 5 pm on Fridays.

Annual direct educational costs amount to $ 36,531.00. Other expenses include parking, health insurance, general deposit for new students and residence hall room deposit. Indirect cost is estimated at $ 3,200.00 inclusive of books and supplies, transportation and personal expenses. Direct costs include tuition, activity fee, service fee, basic rate for room and full meal plan. All students are required to have health insurance thus the need to purchase one through the college when not covered by a family plan.
