Vanderbilt University
Vanderbilt University is located in Nashville, TN. This private school was founded in 1873 by Cornelius Vanderbilt, who was a rail and shipping magnate. The University is known for its Education, Engineering, Law, Medicine, and Nursing programs. The 330 acre campus is located close to downtown.
Vanderbilt shares the No. 18 ranking on the U.S. World and News Report with Emory University and the University of Notre Dame. The school was ranked on top of the list for its Special Education and Audiology programs.
The first students who attended Vanderbilt started in 1875. Now, over 6,600 undergraduates and 5,400 graduate students attend the University. Over 3,300 faculty members are on staff, and the student to teacher ratio is a very respectable 14:1.

Admission Requirements
To be considered for an Early Decision at Vanderbilt, you will need to submit your application by November 1. Acceptance letters are mailed by December 15. To apply under the Regular Decision track, your application must be received by 3, and decision letters are released on April 1.
In addition to your application form, you will need to submit your SAT Reasoning Test or ACT. SAT Subject Test scores are not required, but you can include them for consideration if you wish. An interview is not required, but you can request one if you wish.
Tuition at Vanderbilt University
Going to Vanderbilt will cost $36,100 per academic year. Room and board will add $12,028 to the bill, and all students are required to pay an additional $905 in fees.
Sports at Vanderbilt
The Vanderbilt Commodores compete in the Southeastern Conference. Since the University has a relatively-small student population, it only has 16 teams that compete at the intercollegiate level. Vanderbilt’s tennis teams (women and men) have traditionally performed well in competition. The women’s basketball team has also distinguished itself on the court. The Vanderbilt women’s bowling team won the NCAA championship and the men’s baseball team has also been playing well in recent years. The football team performed well in the first half of the 20th century, but hasn’t been able to continue its successful record in recent years.
