Baptist Missionary Association Theological Seminary
The establishment of Baptist Missionary Association Theological Seminary in Jacksonville, Texas was a project of the Baptist Missionary Association of America which was initiated in the year 1950. The groundbreaking ceremony was held in 1956 and the first classes opened in September 8, 1957. Fifty-seven students coming from six states comprised the first class.
Degree programs offered by the Baptist Missionary Association Theological Seminary consist of Master of Divinity, Master of Arts (Religion), Master of Arts in Church Ministries, Bachelor of Arts in Religion, Associate of Divinity plus Diploma and Certificate Studies. Distance Learning is likewise offered for undergraduates and graduates. Various online courses covering the fields of biblical studies, theological-historical studies, church ministries and Christian education are made available to those who may have some limitations for on-campus training.
Tuition costs $ 105.00 per credit hour, a comparatively low amount made possible by the support of individuals and churches of the national association. Fees to be considered include the audit fee, directed studies fee, internship fee and the ITS fee, among others. Student housing is provided through apartments and duplexes located adjacent to the campus.
Campus life in the college revolves around devotional and practical service, spiritual enrichment, fellowship and student organizations. There is no clear and defined category of the student composition as to age group, gender or nationalism but the commonality lies in the desire to bring the message of proclaiming Christ in an environment conducive to the highest standards of learning.
