East Texas Baptist University
Since its founding in 1912, East Texas Baptist University has been affiliated with the Baptist General Convention of Texas. It seeks to integrate learning and the Christian faith through its educational endeavors. East Texas Baptist University is located at 1209 North Grove, Marshall amidst the scenic piney woods of East Texas, about 150 miles east of Dallas.
The university is accredited to award baccalaureate degrees by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Its curriculum provides opportunities for travel study within the US as well as in selected foreign countries. Online courses and programs are likewise offered. The numerous areas of study include Athletic Training, Biology, Business Administration, Chemistry, Computer Information Systems, Education ( All-Level, Elementary, Secondary), English, History, Human Relations, Kinesiology, Mass Communication, Mathematical Science, Music ( Piano Performance, Sacred Music, Vocal Performance), Nursing, Psychology, Religion, Sociology, Spanish, Speech Communication and Theater Arts.
Present enrollment is about 1,200 students. The average class size is 21 while the student/faculty ratio is 16:1. All courses are handled by faculty members, 80% of whom have earned their respective doctorate or terminal degrees.
East Texas Baptist University aims to make its educational costs more affordable through the Guaranteed Cost Plan, Comprehensive Merit Scholarships and the offering of federal and state aid. The Plan guarantees no increase in cost of tuition, room, board and basic fees for full-time students enrolled continuously for eight semesters. Annual educational cost is approximately $ 23,500.00 including tuition, room, board and general student fee. Beginning fall 2010 however, The Guaranteed Tuition Option shall be offered in lieu of the Plan. This new option locks in the hourly tuition rate instead for eight consecutive semesters.
