Houston Baptist University

Houston Baptist University or HBU is a private Christian learning institution founded in 1960 out of a desire by a group of individuals to establish a purely Christian university in a widely cosmopolitan and modern setting. Located in Houston, Texas, Houston Baptist continues to play an active role in insuring the intellectual, spiritual, social and personal development of its students by providing them with a strong and comprehensive liberal arts and sciences education that is Christ-centered.

The university offers undergraduate courses leading to a variety of majors. A basic liberal arts core curriculum prepares each student in his or her quest for higher education. Once completed, he or she then goes on to choose a major field of study. The school grants its students associate’s, bachelor’s and master’s degrees in various specializations through its distinct and distinguished schools and colleges; namely: College of Arts and Humanities, School of Business, School of Education, School of Nursing and Allied Health, and College of Science and Mathematics.

The College of Continuing Studies is open for enrollment to students who, for some reason, are not able to attend regular classes but who want to complete their degrees either online via the Internet or in other campuses closer to them.

Cost of tuition for fulltime undergraduate students at Houston Baptist University is US$29,900 broken down into full-year tuition of US$23,180 and room and board at US$6,810. Additional costs may be charged for required fees, books and supplies and student health insurance. Financial aid in the form of loans, grants and scholarships to qualified students is extended by the university to help students pay for their cost of attendance.
