Howard Payne University

Howard Payne University is a private, four-year learning institution located in Brownwood, Texas. It was established in 1889 by John David Robnett who named it after his brother-in-law Edward Howard Payne after the latter provided him the money to start off the university.

Today, Howard Payne University has a total of 1,400 enrolled students guided by fulltime faculty members, the majority of whom hold the highest degrees in their chosen fields. With a student to faculty ratio of 14 to 1, the students are sure to enjoy a close interaction with their professors who will always have the time to answer questions regarding their studies.

Howard Payne is accredited to grant its students the Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Business Administration, Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences, Bachelor of Music, Bachelor of Science, Associate in Ministry, and Associate in Health Science degrees. Students have a choice of over 50 majors or minors plus pre-professional programs through the university’s six distinguished schools: School of Science and Math, School of Business, School of Christian Studies, School of Education, School of Music and Fine Arts, and School of Humanities.

For academic year 2009-2010, the cost of attendance is US$24,054 broken down into full-year tuition at US$17,600, fees at US$1,050, 12-meal plan at US$3,184 and residence halls at US$2,220.

A slightly higher estimated cost of attendance is listed for academic year 2010-2011 with the total cost at US$25,590 broken down into full-year tuition at US$18,850, fees at US$1,100, 12-meal plan of US$3,350, and residence halls at US$2,290.

To help students pay for their cost of attendance at the university, it is extending financial aid in the form of loans, grants and scholarships for qualified students.
