Lyndon State College

Lyndon State College is a public liberal arts college located in Lyndonville, Vermont. Founded in 1911 as a one-year normal school tasked to train teachers, the college steadily expanded its curriculum and, through the unceasing and determined efforts of its principal Rita Bole, began offering four-year courses in 1944. In 1961, the State Legislature established the Vermont State Colleges system which was a consortium of the five public colleges of Vermont under a common board of trustees. It was at this time that the Lyndon Teacher’s College, as the school was known then, became Lyndon State College.

The state college offers 28 undergraduate Bachelor of Arts degree programs and a master’s degree program in Education. Around 1,521 students are enrolled at Lyndon State ably assisted and mentored by the college’s 59 fulltime faculty members, 93% of whom hold the highest degree in their chosen field. The student to faculty ratio is 15 to 1 with the average class size no more than 15 students. This assures students of a more focused, one-on-one interaction with their teachers.

Cost of attendance for academic year 2009-2010 for fulltime undergraduate students is US$18,060 for Vermont residents and US$27,300 for non-residents. These costs include tuition, required fees and room and board. For part-time undergraduate students, cost of attendance is US$333 per credit for residents and US$718 per credit for non-residents.
