Ferrum College

Ferrum College is located at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains of Southwestern Virginia. Founded in 1913 on Christian principles based on the teachings of the United Methodist Church, Ferrum aims to provide its students with learning that will serve them for a lifetime and help them deal with the challenges of their chosen fields or careers.

The college offers a comprehensive academic education with a strong liberal arts core. Students can choose from a variety of majors through over 30 areas of study available in the college’s two distinguished academic schools: the School of Arts and Humanities and the School of Natural Science and Mathematics. Areas of study range from business and environmental science to criminal justice and teacher education. Every course is viewed from a Christian perspective and aims to contribute to the student’s whole person – intellectually, personally, and spiritually.

Currently there are approximately 1,400 undergraduate students enrolled at Ferrum College aided by 250 faculty members who are eager and willing to assist their students in learning more about their chosen fields of study. With a student to faculty ratio of 11 to 1, the students are sure that their instructors will always have time for them.

For academic year 2009-2010, the rate of tuition, room and board is US$31,150 for resident students and US$23,520 for commuter students. Financial aid to assist students in paying for their tuition is extended by way of loans, grants, work-study arrangements and special payment plans.

A variety of on-campus residential facilities are offered at Ferrum College for students who do not want to commute and would rather live on campus.
