Institute for the Psychological Sciences (IPS)

Founded by a group of mental health professionals, clinicians and academicians in 1997, the Institute for the Psychological Sciences (IPS) is an accredited graduate institution that offers master’s and doctoral degrees in clinical psychology. It was formerly known as the Institute for Faith and Psychological Sciences. It is located at 2001 Jefferson Davis Highway, Arlington, Virginia.

Program offerings of IPS include the Master of Science Degree Program in Clinical Psychology, the Master of Science in General Psychology and the Doctor of Psychology Program in Clinical Psychology. The programs not only seek to reflect thorough education and training in the science of psychology but also the Catholic understanding on person, marriage and family life in relation to psychological studies. As the Institute for the Psychological Sciences performs related tasks to its mission, it remains first and foremost an academic institution that fosters an environment that allows faculty and students to work together towards teaching and learning, respectively, in the field of psychological sciences. Faculty members also perform academic advising tasks.

Since a degree in clinical psychology requires much more than just adequate grades and scholarly ability, IPS ensures through its programs the standards dictated by the profession. Students who are unable to meet such standards are terminated from the programs. At the end of each semester, students are advised of their areas of deficiencies that may require a remediation plan. Studying at IPS can be for full-time study, part-time study, course-for-credit or auditor which allows students to audit an IPS master’s-level course if equipped with the appropriate bachelor’s degree. Graduate credits are deemed transferrable to IPS if taken from a regionally accredited institution and completed within a period of 6 years before admission to IPS.

Tuition per credit hour for Master of Science Degree Program is $ 775.00 while Doctoral Degree Program cost $ 785.00 per credit. Audit tuition per credit hour is $ 385.00. Estimated living expenses amount to $ 20,000.00 inclusive of room, meals, books, transportation and personal expenses.
