Lynchburg College
Lynchburg College is a private, coeducational residential college located in Lynchburg, Virginia. Founded in 1903, the college has close affiliations with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).
Keeping up with its strong liberal arts tradition, the college offers its various courses through six distinguished schools, each headed by its own dean. These include the School of Business and Economics, School of Communication and the Arts, School of Education and Human Development, School of Health Sciences and Human Performance, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, and School of Sciences. Students can choose from over 38 majors, 45 minors; 13 pre-professional undergraduate programs, professional programs in business, education, communication studies, and health sciences and graduate programs in education, business, English, history, music, and nursing.
There are approximately 2,500 students enrolled at the college ably assisted in their studies by 161 fulltime faculty members. The student to faculty ratio is a low 12 to 1 thereby insuring a focused interaction between the students and their professors.
Cost of attendance for academic year 2009-2010 for fulltime undergraduate students is US$27,980 for full-year tuition plus a room charge ranging from US$3,930 to US$6,330 depending on whether it’s a single-occupancy or a double occupancy or a residential hall or a townhouse type of housing facility. Additional cost is charged for meals on campus, depending on the meal plan. Part-time traditional undergraduate students taking up 7 hours or less pay US$390 per semester hour and US790 per semester hour if they take up 8 hours or more. Graduate students of business and education pay US$390 per semester hour. To help students pay for their cost of attendance, financial aid is extended in the form of loans, grants and scholarships.
