Central Washington University
Located in Ellensburg in the state of Washington, Central Washington University (CWU) opened in 1892 as Washington State Normal School to train elementary and junior high teachers. The school’s name changed to Central Washington College of Education in 1937, to Central Washington State College in 1961, and finally to Central Washington University in 1977.
Central Washington University is a comprehensive, four-year public university conferring baccalaureate and master’s degrees from its main campus in Ellensburg, Washington and from six off-site centers: CWU-Des Moines (Highland Community College), CWU-Lynnwood (Edmonds Community College), CWU-Moses Lake (Big Bend Community College), CWU-Pierce County, CWU-Wenatchee (Wenatchee Valley College) and CWU-Yakima (Yakima Valley Community College).
Undergraduate degree majors offered by CWU include BA Applied Science, BS Accounting, BA Education, BA Fine Arts, BS Business Administration, BAEd Elementary Education / TESL Minor, BAS Food Service Management, BAS Information Technology and Administrative Management, BS Interdisciplinary Studies – Social Sciences, BA Law and Justice, BA Mathematics: Teaching Secondary, BA Music, and MPA Professional Accountancy and various Bachelor of Science degrees. Minors include: Business Administration, Economics, Law and Justice, Psychology, and Sociology.
Graduate degrees include Master of Arts, Master of Arts for Teachers, Master of Education, and Master of Fine Arts.
Certifications are given for Teaching Secondary Math and Supply Chain Management.
