Eastern Washington University at Yakima Valley Community College
Eastern Washington University (EWU) has forged a partnership with Yakima Valley Community College (YVCC) to offer EWU programs and facilitate direct credit transfer for the completion of bachelor’s degrees. Located at S 16th and Nob Hill Blvd., Yakima, Washington, the YVCC facilities allow EWU to widen its reach in terms of program accessibility. YVCC is one of Washington’s oldest community college and is federally recognized as a Hispanic serving institution.
One of the programs offered through this partnership between EWU and YVCC is the part-time Master’s of Social Work (MSW) Program. The offering is a three-year, two-night per week program. The Council on Social Work Education has accredited EWU’s School of Social Work and Human Service to offer baccalaureate and master’s levels.
EWU’s transfer agreement with Washington State Community Colleges including YVCC allows graduates of degrees covered by such agreement to be admitted to EWU with junior standing. This would mean that they have satisfied lower division general education requirements specifically the General Education Core requirements, the computer literacy requirement and the university proficiency in mathematics and writing. YVCC’s direct transfer degree with EWU is the Associate in Arts and Sciences.
The Dental Hygiene Expanded Degree Program of EWU is also offered at YVCC. Monica L. Hospental serves as the Program Director who can be reached through 253-912-3642. A baccalaureate degree is awarded by EWU through this program which has no clinical component. It focuses rather on the expanded roles of the dental hygienist in the aspect of research, management, consumer advocacy and education.
