Evergreen State College
Evergreen State College is a public liberal arts and sciences college which opened its academic doors in 1971. From the very beginning, the college has held environmental education as one of its priorities as it dedicates itself to attaining sustainability within and beyond the campus. The offered programs strike a balance by incorporating seminars, hands-on learning and off-campus exploration in the curriculum.
Educational programs are not divided into traditional academic disciplines such as Mathematics, Biology or English. The design and content of the programs represent teaching across disciplines and differences. Faculty members usually work in teams to create programs that allow students to view one problem from different angles. Degrees offered include the Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Arts and Science, Master of Environmental Studies, Master in Public Administration, Master of Environmental Studies/Public Administration and Master in Teaching.
The main campus of Evergreen State College is located in Olympia, Washington but it also offers its programs in Tacoma, Grays Harbor and the Tribal Reservation. Total student population for all campuses is about 4,900. . Most students are enrolled in daytime academic programs although options for part-time attendance are available through the college’s half-time, interdisciplinary and team-taught programs. Students can register in a maximum of 20 credits every given quarter. Taking one program at a time is highly encouraged as opposed to taking a series of courses at one time to attain focused study.
Estimated undergraduate costs for Washington residents amount to $ 17,427.00. Non-residents are charged $ 28,450.00 to include tuition, books and supplies, room and board, transportation and miscellaneous expenses. Part-time resident students pay $ 360.80 while non-residents pay $ 1,095.20 for a minimum of 2 credit loads.
