Davis and Elkins College
Standing serenely atop the lovely mountains of West Virginia is a tiny Presbyterian-founded liberal arts school known as Davis and Elkins College (D&E).
With over 30 academic programs to offer its students, each leading to baccalaureate and associate degrees, (D&E).is one of the top 20 baccalaureate colleges in the south.
Located a few hours from Pittsburgh and Washington, D.C., students of (D&E) enjoy excellent academic education ranging from the traditional arts and sciences to other professional courses like teacher education, nursing, criminology, hospitality management and tourism. Pre-professional programs for students looking to be admitted to schools of law, pharmacy, medicine, forestry, dentistry, the ministry or occupational therapy are also available. Perhaps the biggest perk enjoyed by students of D&E not common to other college students is the easy access to ski country and a natural park.
There are currently 710 students enrolled in D&E College with a ratio of 1 male student for every 2 female students. There are 45 full-time faculty members to handle the classes, 84% of whom hold doctorates or professional degrees. The student-to-faculty ratio is 13 to 1 giving the students the added benefit of focused instruction from their teachers.
For the coming 2009-2010 academic year, tuition and fees total US$27,250 and this includes US$19,800 for tuition and US$7,450 for Room and Board.
Students of D&E are required to live on campus except for those who live with their parents within the community or those with medical conditions. Campus housing, both co-ed and single-sex are available in a variety of settings and are guaranteed throughout the four years of college education.
