Known as “the Lighthouse on the Hill” in reference to the high quality of its teaching and its graduates, GSC continues to focus on the field of study it is known for – education. To this day, the preparation of teachers has been the primary concern of the college although the demands of its increasing student population has seen the rise of additional degree programs in business, human services and land resources.
GSC offers students associate’s and bachelor’s degrees in a variety of major and minor fields of study through its academic departments of Business, Criminal Justice, Education, English, Fine Arts, Land Resources, Science and Mathematics, and Social Science.
Currently, there are 1,441 students enrolled at GSC, 44% of them female and 56% male. These students are guided in their search for higher education by 59 full-time and 27 part-time faculty members. With an average class size of 18 and a student to faculty ratio of 18 to 1, students are assured of personalized education and easy access to their teachers for any questions regarding their course of study.
