Cardinal Stritch University
The Sisters of St. Francis of Assisi founded Cardinal Stritch University in 1937. Open to students of all beliefs and denominations, its mission is to advance the values of St. Francis of Assisi by imbuing its students with compassion and respect for all life.
Located in suburban Milwaukee in the State of Wisconsin, it operates the Ruth S. Coleman College of Nursing, College of Business and Management, College of Education and Leadership and College of Arts and Sciences in its two campuses (Wisconsin and Minnesota). It also maintains a number of offsite locations.
The University offers more than 60 fields of study ranging from art, business, education, history, music, nursing, philosophy, psychology, science to theological studies. Degrees which can be obtained include: Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Music, Bachelor of Science, Master of Arts, Master of Business Administration, Master of Education, Master of Music, Master of Science, Doctor of Education and Doctor of Philosophy.
It has a student to faculty ratio of 16:1 despite its total enrollment of more than 6,200 students (about 3,000 undergraduate and 3,200 graduate students). Its 98 full-time faculty and hundreds of part-time faculty members allow for close mentoring relationships between faculty and students.
Tuition for school year 2009-10 is a little over $21,000 (excludes housing estimated at $6,500 a year). In addition to having one of the lowest tuitions in the State of Wisconsin, Stritch University grants financial assistance to more than 90% of its students.
Aside from being accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, it is also accredited by the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs, Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education, Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction and Wisconsin State Board of Nursing.
