Lakeland College
Lakeland College is a liberal arts college located in Sheboygan County, Wisconsin. Its beginnings can be traced back to the establishment by German immigrants of a school known as the Mission House in the Sheboygan area in 1862. The school was to provide liberal arts education for the immigrants’ children and serve as a training ground for ministers. Eventually the scope of the college expanded and, after 96 years, Mission House was renamed Lakeland College in 1956 and the seminary moved to Minneapolis/St. Paul to become known as the United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities. Lakeland College continued its tradition of quality education and today, stands as a respected liberal arts college with strong affiliations with the United Church of Christ.
As a liberal arts college, Lakeland’s core curriculum is centered on providing students with a comprehensive course in the arts and sciences in preparation for a deeper and more meaningful appreciation and understanding of their choice of specialization.
For undergraduate students, Lakeland offers a wide variety of majors. For its graduate program, the college’s Kellett School of Adult Education offers master’s degrees in
Business Administration, Education, Counseling, and Theology.
To insure that all students who want to earn a degree at Lakeland are able to do so, the college holds evening and weekend classes for undergraduate and graduate students who cannot attend the regular day classes.
Cost of tuition at Lakeland College for academic year 2009-2010 for fulltime, undergraduate students with a credit load of 12 to 18 is US$18,970 per year. For graduate students, the cost of tuition is US$410 per credit. Students who want to live on campus have to pay additional charges for room and board.
